French regions commit support to Paris 2024

The regions of France and Paris 2024 come together behind a shared ambition to activate the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games throughout France over the six years of preparations.

At the French Interregional Regional Congress currently taking place in Marseille, the Regions of France today reaffirmed their commitment to make Paris 2024 a Games for all of France.

This strong engagement from all of the French regions continues the support demonstrated during the bid phase. The further commitment was today symbolised by the presentation of an official letter from Hervé Morin, President of the « Regions of France », to Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet.

The commitment reflects the group’s intention to seize all opportunities to make the Paris 2024 Games a useful project for the people of France, throughout the country and including the French overseas territories, showcasing the best that France has to offer, in particular its tourism offer, dynamic business environment and civil society. The Regions of France also share the Paris 2024 Committee’s ambition to use the next six years to strengthen the role and profile of sport and physical activity in French society.

Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 said: “We thank the ‘Regions of France’, its President Hervé Morin and all the regional presidents for their commitment to work with Paris 2024. We’re very happy that the Regions of France are planning to use the opportunity of the Games to reinforce the attractiveness of our region and drive change in key areas of everyday live: the development of sport for all, changing attitudes towards disability and the training and inclusion of people who find it hard to access jobs.”
