Europcar supports World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM 2014
Europcar, the leader in car hire services in Europe, was today supporting World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM 2014, by unveiling the Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid SE Saloon. The car represents the future of the Europcar fleet as the car rental provider continues its pledge to help reduce the global impact of tourism.
Reflecting its commitment to responsible tourism, Europcar UK has been awarded certification to the world class, ISO accredited CEMARS standard by the Achilles Carbon Reduction programme. Certification to CEMARS demonstrates Europcar UK’s commitment to measuring, managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a robust and credible way. Europcar UK achieved CEMARS for its operational carbon foot print for the period Jan 2010–Dec 2012. Key targets set by Europcar UK to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the coming years include reducing the average fleet CO2 figure; reducing average vehicle emissions for non-revenue movement and improving awareness of electricity/water usage and efficiencies.
The July 2014 CO2 emission report from Europcar showed a decline in emissions over the last 12 months through all vehicle movements (internal and customer).
Europcar is the official mobility partner of World Travel Market 2014.
