Emirates goes behind the scenes on world’s shortest A380 flight

Cabin crew have just 20 minutes to deliver Emirates’ in-flight service on the world’s shortest A380 flight.

This is just one of the behind the scenes insights provided by a short video made around the launch of Emirates’ A380 service to Kuwait.

UAE National A380 Captain, Mohammed Al Khayat, is shown enjoying family moments at home before embarking on another trip behind the controls of the world’s largest passenger jet.

Egyptian cabin crew member, Ebtihal Hamdi, is filmed putting the final touches to her immaculate Emirates’ appearance before a crew bus transports her past the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, on her way into work.

Viewers then get a snapshot of the pre-flight crew briefing within Emirates Headquarters in Dubai, before the 25-strong team, plus flight deck crew, head to the 489-seat aircraft.

Syrian Flight Purser, Ammor Alsaadi, is featured closely managing the multi-national team working across two decks during the one hour 45 minute flight to Kuwait.

“It’s challenging the amount of time we have to go through and do the service,” said Ammor in the video.

“If you look around, you see everyone is busy. We have basically 20 minutes to deliver the best in-flight experience.”

The flagship of the Emirates’ fleet offers 14 First Class Private Suites, 76 Lie-flat Business Class seats and 399 seats in Economy Class on the Kuwait route.

All cabin classes are equipped with the airline’s award winning ice entertainment system, loaded with 1,800 channels of entertainment.

The video, which also includes footage from the cockpit and the popular Onboard Lounge, was captured on July 16th 2014, the first day of the airline’s A380 service to Kuwait.

The day also marked the 25th anniversary of Emirates’ flights to the country.

Joining the inaugural flight was Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations, centre, as well as members of the Kuwaiti media.

EK857 is the world’s shortest scheduled A380 service in operation.

It leaves Dubai at 16:00 and arrives at Kuwait International Airport at 16:45 local time.

EK858 departs Kuwait at 18:25 and lands in Dubai at 21:10.
