Carlson Rezidor Group appoints Rob Smith as GM of Radisson Plaza Hotel
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and most dynamic hotel groups, today announced the appointment of Rob Smith as general manager of the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Minneapolis. Smith, who assumes his new role April 9, was most recently general manager of the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa.
“Rob’s extensive experience leading upscale, full-service hotels and resorts will be an advantage in managing this important company-owned and managed Radisson hotel,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Radisson, Americas, and executive vice president of owned and managed hotels, Americas. “He has overseen several key projects, including spearheading a USD 30 million renovation of the Radisson Aruba Resort, while simultaneously improving customer and employee satisfaction.”
Smith brings a breadth of experience that includes 17 years serving as a hotel general manager in the U.S. and Caribbean. During his tenure at the Radisson Aruba Resort, Smith’s leadership helped reposition the property to the top-tier of the market.
Before joining Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Smith served as president and chief executive officer of the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association/Aruba Convention Bureau. In 2005, he was named the island’s “Hotelier of the Year” and was nominated as hotelier of the year by the Caribbean Hotel Association. Active in his local community, Smith currently serves on the board of the Caribbean Hotel Association and the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association.
Smith studied at the University of South Florida, specializing in business finance and American studies.
