Bushbaby Travel launches new family-friendly programmes

Family-focused tour operator Bushbaby Travel has announced a new programme of family holidays to the USA and Australia.

Building on the success of its self-drive holidays for families in South Africa and around the Indian Ocean, Bushbaby’s new itineraries will incorporate combinations of culture, wildlife and beach into bespoke adventures of a lifetime for the whole family.

“We are run by parents for parents,” said founder Abigail Shaw.

“We appreciate that it is harder to get about with kids, so all our adventures are tailor made from our selection of the very best luxury family-friendly hotels in inspired locations.

Whether it is rafting through the Grand Canyon or learning to be a Wrangler; joining Surf School, setting up a Swag Camp or heading off on safari in Kakadu National Park, Bushbaby’s flexible new American and Australian itineraries recognise that each family is unique.

Bushbaby is expanding to offer breaks in the USA and Australia

Some sample breaks include:

For Young Ones: Halloween Spooktacular in Washington DC

From Dorothy’s ruby slippers at the National Museum of American History to the James Bond car at the Spy Museum, the question here is not what to do but where to start. You can search out the V-2 rocket, Apollo II space craft and the original Star Spangled Banner.

Around Halloween time the city is buzzing with fun activities - from pumpkin carving parties to the annual Boo at the Zoo amongst the animals. After DC, head to The Homestead, a historic five-star resort in Virginia and an opportunity to experience Southern hospitality at its best.

Teen Trips: Ranch ‘n’ Beach

It’s time to Cowboy Up! Spend a week staying in Big Timber Home or Glamping on a 37,000 acre Ranch Resort in Montana. Teen activities include river adventures and cattle drives whilst younger guests can take part in a Junior Wrangler programme (want to learn how to lasso?!), visits to historic ‘Ghost Towns’ and Chuckwagon dinners.

On your way home, stop in Boston for a spot of culture before heading down to the clapboard houses, giant dunes and beaches of Cape Cod.

Extended Family: From Reef to Rainforest

It may be a family reunion or a special wedding anniversary, but there’s something for everyone in Australia. Start on Heron Island where the older generation can relax in the sun whilst the kids join a team of Marine Biologists for anything from beach combing to turtle tracking before getting together for a picnic lunch on a secluded beach and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef.

Then head to Port Douglas and the dense rainforest in Cape Tribulation, and of course the local crocodile farm! Whatever the occasion, Bushbaby will provide the backdrop for unforgettable shared family memories.
