Instead of going to the check-in agent, let the check-in agent come to you; that’s the premise behind the Sabre RovingAgent wireless solution currently being used by American Airlines at the San Jose Airport in California.
Tested successfully this summer, the system is soon to be extended to the busiest airports in the U.S.
The RovingAgent is centred on a Symbol SPT1740 web-enabled handheld computer that integrates Sabre’s GDS and Symbol’s Spectrum 24 wireless LAN to create this mobile travel application.
All the check-in procedures can be performed on the move and boarding passes can be printed there and then, thus speeding up the whole check-in process.
