New Appointment for Galileo International

, today announced the appointment of Mr. Shannon Hyland to the newly created role of general manager of Canada and Latin America and vice president of Strategy for the Americas. In this new position, Hyland`s responsibilities include operating responsibility for the Canada and Latin America markets and strategic planning across the entire Americas organization. Hyland will report directly to Mitch Gross, Galileo`s executive vice president for Galileo`s Americas Region.


“Shannon will bring strong leadership and vision to the Canadian and Latin American markets, which are critical to our global footprint, while providing greater focus and analytical depth towards strong strategic planning for the entire Americas organization,” said Gross.  “I am confident that Shannon`s strengths will be leveraged in his new role, and that it will bring more alignment between our business plans to better support the unique needs of customers in these important markets.  I look forward to even greater accomplishments that will benefit our travel agency partners.” 

Most recently, Hyland served as Galileo`s vice president of Finance for the Americas where he was responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, strategic planning, and the implementation of new pricing and sales strategies. Previously, Hyland served as director of finance for Avolar, a corporate aircraft fractional-ownership company where he was responsible for analysis, planning, treasury and accounting. Prior to Avolar, Hyland worked for America West Airlines from 1996 - 2001, where he led financial planning and analysis for Operations, Sales, Marketing and Call Centers.  He began his career in travel, serving in engineering positions with both United Airlines and Continental Airlines. Hyland earned a master`s degree in business administration in finance and international business from New York University and a BA in industrial engineering from Arizona State University.
