Pegasus Solutions Selected by WestCoast Hospitality

Pegasus Solutions
and WestCoast Hospitality Corporation have signed a three-year agreement under which WestCoast Hospitality will use Pegasuså’ switch for connecting to the global distribution systems (GDSs), and will connect through Pegasus for online distribution via the Internet.
Based in Spokane, Wash., WestCoast Hospitality is the owner and franchiser of Red Lion Hotels and WestCoast Hotels, and Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions is a leading global provider of hotel reservations-related services and technology.

Under the agreement, WestCoast Hospitality will use the Pegasus Electronic Distribution Switch to connect its 73 properties to the major GDSs—Sabre, Worldspan, Galileo and Amadeus—providing seamless availability for travel agents to book rooms through hotel central reservation systems.  Introduced by Pegasus after the company’s founding in 1989, the switch processes GDS and Internet hotel reservations for more than 200 brands, representing 44,000 hotels.

Additionally, WestCoast Hospitality will connect to Pegasus for distributing hotel inventory, room rates and content via the Internet.  The company’s hotels will be included in Pegasus’ Online Distribution Database of approximately 45,000 hotels worldwide, which feeds detailed information and more than 75,000 images to the thousands of Web sites in Pegasus’ Online Distribution Network, including Expedia.com and Hotwire.  WestCoast Hospitality’s 73 hotels are located in 13 Western states and British Columbia, Canada, representing 12,800 rooms.

“We have selected Pegasus because its system gives us the ability to create and update rates automatically,” said Barry Hughes, vice president of distribution and marketing services for WestCoast Hospitality.  “We’re very pleased with the distribution and functionality we’ll have by connecting to the GDSs and the Internet through Pegasus, and look forward to finalizing the implementation this summer.”
