HSI Completes Major POS Implementation

Hospitality Solutions International (HSI), a division of MICROS Systems,
Inc. and a leading software developer, has completed the installation of
its Profit Series Point-of-Sale (POS) software and hardware for five
Sheraton Hawaii resorts. The resorts include four on the island of Oahu—
the Sheraton Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki, The Royal Hawaiian, and
Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, plus one on the island of Maui—the Sheraton
Maui. All five resorts are owned by Kyo-ya Company Ltd., a subsidiary of
Kokusai Kogyo Company Ltd., and managed by Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.

“This is one of the largest installations in the history of HSI,” stated
Tim Kinsella, President and COO, Hospitality Solutions International
(HSI). “Included in the solution are 147 POS terminals, wireless POS
terminals, wireless printers, HSI hand-held units and kitchen display
units.” Spread across two Hawaiian Islands, the total solution supports
4,642 rooms and 40 outlets.

“The Hawaiian market has very unique and specific needs. After extensive
research into POS solutions, HSI with its willingness and ability to
provide custom development, was the perfect fit for our complex
multi-island operation,” said Bert Zukemura, area manager, property
technology for Kyo-ya`s Sheraton Hotels in Waikiki and Maui.

“As Kyo-ya Co. Ltd. must address the needs of many customers, it requires
redundant servers operating a large number of terminals and a bridge to a
SQL database. HSI is uniquely positioned to offer custom solutions meeting
specialized requirements and continues to benefit our entire customer base
by integrating these features into the core product. In all, there were
thirty- three custom enhancements developed to meet the specific needs of
the five Kyo-ya hotels,” Kinsella added.

The HSI Profit Series Point of Sale System is an easy to use, scalable,
windows-based, point-of-sale solution designed to fit into nearly any
hospitality environment. The simplicity of design is backed by
extraordinary capability and intuitive graphics. The Profit Series POS
links front-of-house and back-office applications in a real-time format
and system changes may be made instantly even as the system is operating.
