Park Plaza Cardiff Opening 2005

Just two weeks after plans for the new Riverbank Park Plaza - London were revealed at World Travel Market, Park Plaza Hotels Europe are delighted to fly their flag over Cardiff’s most stylish new development complex of shops, offices, luxury apartments, a health & leisure club and 4-star deluxe hotel.

Park Plaza Hotels Europe has joined forces with the Admiralty Group to put their stamp of international luxury on this exciting new development that was unveiled to the South Wales Business Community last week during an exclusive launch party.

A luxurious sample hotel room gave guests an idea of how the guest rooms will look and the first images of the common areas of the hotel, from the reception area to the lounge and bar, were on display with the aid of Digital Imaging.

Martin Morris, speaking on behalf of the Admiralty Group, is proud to have such a powerful brand behind the future success of the hotel:

“Park Plaza hotels are design-led, fresh and contemporary hotels which mirror the remaining elements in this cutting-edge development”.

The whole hotel has been designed with art as the principal theme. Each of the hotel’s 131 bedrooms will contain pieces of original art, from contemporary wall sculptures to original drawings. Created by interior designer, Peggy Prendeville, the rooms boast a specially designed range of sumptuous fabrics and furniture from aubergine leather easy chairs to 1.8 metre desks and bespoke maple veneer headboards.

All rooms will feature TV and DVD player, laptop safe, iron & ironing board, tea & coffee making facilities, UK & EU power sockets and wireless Internet connectivity.

The stylish bathrooms are to be tiled in large green limestone-effect tiles with free standing washstands.
The public areas are being designed by Baranowitz & Kronenberg Tel Aviv Architecture and preliminary images were on digital display for guests to view.
Located in the cultural hub of Cardiff, adjacent to the New Theatre, the 131-bedroom hotel is part of the Greyfriars Development, a £15 million landmark development currently being constructed on the site of the former Mid Glamorgan council offices on Greyfriars Road.

Adjoining the hotel will be a 5,500 sq ft destination bar and restaurant on the ground floor with its own entrance.

The development also comprises 36 spacious, penthouse-style apartments on the top three floors with roof gardens and expansive balconies of which 25 have already been sold, as well as a health and fitness spa on the ground and first floors with swimming pool. The Spa and Health Club facilities will be available to all occupiers of the development.

The remainder of the development comprises a separate block of high specification office space to be known as Greyfriars House totalling 40,000 sq.ft, which are to be sold or let in various sized suites from 800sq.ft upwards.

Boris Ivesha, President of Park Plaza Hotels Europe spoke during the launch:
“I am thrilled to have teamed up with the Admiralty Group to be part of Cardiff’s most luxury development. I have every confidence that Park Plaza Cardiff will be a welcome addition to the Welsh Capital’s business and leisure community and anticipate a successful collaboration.”

Park Plaza Cardiff is the 6th Park Plaza hotel to open in the UK, following the success of Victoria Park Plaza and the Sherlock Holmes Hotel in London (opened 2001), Park Plaza Nottingham (opened 2002), Park Plaza Leeds (opened 2003) and Riverbank Park Plaza also opening in 2005.
