Brits Prefer Their Nights Away in London

PRNewswire LONDON November 6:

It`s not Barcelona, Paris or even New York… step forward London to take
the number one place in Hotels.com survey amongst Brits as they book four
star rooms in the West End at prices as low as £40.00 per person

According to a survey conducted amongst UK users of Hotels.com - the
world`s leading specialised internet provider of hotel accommodation -
London is their top destination.

“We offer lodging in all the world`s top destinations, but it seems the
British favour their capitol city when voting with their wallets,” says
Matthew Walls, UK Head of Marketing, Hotels.com. “Although London is often
cited as one of the most expensive cities in the world, the substantial
savings that Hotels.com users make on accommodation stretches their budget
further without sacrificing the quality or choice of hotel.”

According to the survey, the top 10 destinations are:

1. London

2. New York

3. Paris

4. Barcelona

5. Amsterdam

6. Rome

7. Prague

8. San Francisco

9. Edinburgh

10. Madrid

Showing that the US has not lost its appeal for the British, New York
takes second place. Walls continues, “The exchange rate really favours any
US trip. Flights are numerous and relatively inexpensive, and New York can
really be experienced without spending a fortune.”

He continues, “For example, rooms at the 3-star Milford Plaza by Times
Square and Broadway start at around £40.00 per person, while the deluxe
landmark Helmsley Park Lane hotel, facing Central Park, costs from £65..00
per person on Hotels.com - ideal for tourists, shoppers or business
travellers.”
“The low-cost airlines have opened up many European cities for short
breaks. The value and choice which people get from Hotels.com is a perfect
complement, giving the traveller control of their travel arrangements and
their style of accommodation..” says Walls.

Hotels.com provides substantial discounts at over 9000 hotels in over 400
places around the globe, e.g., London from £23.00; New York from £25.00;
Paris from £20.00; Barcelona and Madrid from £29.00. Prices quoted are per
person and based on two people sharing.
