Rocco Forte Hotels Appoints Ivan Lajos As General Manager Of The Angleterre Hotel In St. Petersburg

Rocco Forte Hotels is delighted to announce the appointment of Ivan Lajos as General Manager of the four-star Angleterre Hotel in St Petersburg.

Lajos, 35, was born in Hungary and gained his degree in Hotel & Restaurant Administration at Niagara University, New York, before continuing his education at the College of Accounting and Finance, Budapest, and Cornell University, New York. He began his career in hospitality in 1984 helping in the kitchens and working his way upwards, experiencing all aspects of hotel operations. His first managerial position was Food & Beverage Manager for El San Juan Hotel & Casino in 1993. His most recent position was Director of Operations for the 322-room five-star Hilton Hotel in Budapest, where he worked for four years.

In addition to his Hungarian mother tongue, Mr Lajos speaks fluent English and German and is keen to learn Russian. He commented, “I am very excited to be in Russia having learnt about it for such a long time during my school years in Hungary and having spent five years in the United States”.
The 193-bedroom Angleterre Hotel is situated in the heart of St Petersburg and overlooks the landmark St Isaac`s Cathedral. The hotel is within walking distance of the city`s main attractions, business and shopping areas. It first appeared on Malaya Morskaya Street in the 1840s and has a rich history of famous visitors. The original building was not preserved and the hotel was totally rebuilt in 1989, and its historical façade was recreated. At present the Angleterre Hotel offers excellent four-star accommodation and service, guaranteed by the international management company - Rocco Forte Hotels. In Autumn 2001 renovation work to upgrade the property will commence.
