JAL Hotels End Contract

JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Shosuke Machida) has announced that it is ending its management contract with Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto, as of August 31, 2002. The hotel is owned by “K"Hotel Development Co., Ltd. (President: Yukio Enjo).

Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto has been managed under Nikko Hotels International since it’s opening on April 25, 1994. “K” Hotel Development Co., Ltd. will manage the hotel under a new name.

JAL Hotels Company Ltd. has capital of 4.272 billion. Its 2001 sales were 111.9 billion. The company operates two hotel groups: Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City, with a total of 52 hotels (33 in Japan and 19 overseas) and 16,238 rooms. In April 2000, JAL Hotels entered into a strategic alliance with Le Meridien to form a global luxury hotel network, which now covers a total of 169 hotels in 63 countries worldwide.

This year, four hotels have been added to the Nikko Hotels chain: Hotel Nikko Kochi Asahi Royal on April 15, Hotel Nikko Bayside Osaka on April 2, Hotel Nikko Kumamoto on May 31, and The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama on August 1. In addition, the 210-room Hotel JAL City Miyazaki is expected to open on November 1. The company plans to open the 203-room Hotel Nikko Niigata on May 2, 2003, as well as JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo, with 350 rooms, on May 31, 2003.
