Air Canada Welcomes WHO Decision

Air Canada welcomed today`s decision by
the World Health Organization to lift its travel advisory for Toronto and
stepped up its participation in the “Canada Loves Toronto” holiday weekend May
15-20, 2003..
“With the announcement today of the lifting of the WHO travel advisory,
there is no better time to showcase Toronto as a vibrant, cosmopolitan, safe
place to visit,” said Robert Milton, President and CEO, Air Canada. “This
decision bolsters efforts not only by Air Canada but by all partners in the
“Canada Loves Toronto” campaign to demonstrate our full confidence in the city
and its people.”
Air Canada is inviting its partners in the travel, hospitality and
tourism sectors to make travel to Toronto for the May long weekend as
attractive as possible. Toronto hotels, restaurants, entertainment, tourism
and retail businesses as well as government and other authorities have been
invited to join the effort to support Toronto by offering special incentives
to travelers. Air Canada will also be working closely with other businesses
who announced similar initiatives to stimulate travel to Toronto. A meeting of
the “Canada Loves Toronto” Committee will be held on Friday, May 2 in Toronto
to confirm and coordinate efforts to entice travelers for the May 15-20 long
weekend.
