Spirit Airlines Announces Appointment Of New Sr. VP Of Marketing

Spirit Airlines, the low fare all-jet carrier with service to 14 U.S. cities, today announced the appointment of Gerard F. Carusi to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Marketing. In his new role, Carusi will oversee the airline’s marketing and sales departments, which include scheduling, planning, pricing, inventory management, advertising and public relations responsibilities, as the airline expands its route structure, fleet size and marketing initiatives. Carusi joins Spirit Airlines from Global Aviation Association, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, advising the association’s clients on a wide range of aviation passenger and cargo projects, including scheduling, route structuring, economic planning and development.
Prior to joining the Global Aviation Association, Carusi held the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning at American Trans Air, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and planning for the airline’s charter and scheduled operation. Previously, Carusi spent 15 years at U.S. Airways, where he was Vice President of Market Planning in charge of route development, scheduling, pricing, yield management, marketing alliances and corporate forecasting functions. Carusi began his career at American Airlines where he rose to become a senior director of traffic analysis and forecasting, responsible for economic, corporate, airport and route forecasts. Carusi holds BA and MA degrees in economics from Fordham University.
