Retirement Of Qantus Director

Qantas Chairman, Ms Margaret Jackson, announced today that Mr John Ducker had advised his intention to retire from the Board effective 31 August this year.


Mr Ducker has served continuously as a Director of Qantas since he was appointed to the Board in August 1983. He was Chairman of the airline`s Safety, Environment and Security Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.


Ms Jackson said Mr Ducker had made a significant contribution over a period in which there was extensive change in the airline, including the transition to a listed company in July 1995.

“He played a major role in Board deliberations for 17 years and I would like to formally acknowledge his valued participation,” she added.


Mr Ducker said he had been proud to serve on the Board of one of Australia`s leading companies which had a reputation for excellence recognised worldwide.
