easyJet Flights Expected To Operate From New Athens International Airport From 1 March 2001

The new Athens International Airport is expected to become operational from 1 March 2001, and therefore all easyJet Athens flights will depart and arrive at the new airport from that date. easyJet passengers who have booked, or are planning to book flights to or from Athens over this period should be aware of the change in location of the airport.

The new airport, which is situated at Spata, 27 kilometres north east of Athens city centre, will replace the existing Hellinikon Airport. The new airport is larger, with improved facilities, and will be able to cater for more aircraft and passengers. The new airport can be accessed via a six lane motorway, forming part of the Athens City Ring Road. Public transport links to and from Athens city centre and major ports of Attiki will be running at frequent intervals to facilitate connecting air and sea travel.
