Austrian Airlines Group: More Positive Traffic Statistics in April 2002

Passenger load factor increased once again

Following the success of the previous month’s figures, April 2002 saw continued growth in the total number of passengers carried by the Austrian Airlines Group. Since revenue passenger kilometres were just 8.1 % down on the figures for the previous year, the overall load factor for the reporting month rose by 1.9 percentage points, reaching 71.1 %.

For the four-month period from January to April 2002, total passenger volume of 2,437,055 was just 1.1 % below the figure for the same period in 2001. While total production in available seat kilometres was reduced by 10.1 %, revenue passenger kilometres fell by only 8.6 %. As a result, the Group was able to increase the passenger load factor by 1.1 percentage points to 69.4 %. At 46,305 (-0.1%), the number of flights made was slightly below the figure for the comparable period the previous year.
