FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines announced today that its new codeshare agreement with SWISS will add 20 new European destinations that can be reached conveniently via Zurich, further broadening American`s already vast network. SWISS, the newly branded national airline of Switzerland, is one of Europe’s largest carriers.

Beginning May 15, American will put its AA code on SWISS’ eight daily trans-Atlantic flights between Switzerland and seven U.S. gateways, as well as on SWISS flights beyond Zurich to 20 new points in Europe. SWISS’ U.S. gateways are Boston, New York-Kennedy, Newark, Washington, Chicago O`Hare, Miami and Los Angeles.

SWISS, in turn, will place its code on American’s two daily trans-Atlantic flights between Zurich and its U.S. gateways of Dallas/Fort Worth and New York Kennedy.

“The new codeshare and frequent flyer relationship between American and SWISS creates new opportunities for our customers to travel to and from Europe,” said Mike Gunn, executive vice president of Marketing and Planning for American. “Our customers will appreciate an additional option for convenient connections to many great European destinations, such as Geneva, Vienna and Munich.”

In March, American and SWISS began reciprocal frequent flyer cooperation that allows members of American’s AAdvantage® program to earn and redeem mileage credit when they travel on flights operated by SWISS. Likewise, members of the Qualiflyer program earn and redeem mileage credit when traveling on flights operated by American.

American and SWISS will continue to deepen their alliance, using their hubs in the United States and Zurich. They will continue to explore opportunities to codeshare on SWISS flights to destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and on American`s extensive network in North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.
