Worldspan Enhances European Rail Ticketing System for Agents

Worldspan
, one of the world`s leading travel distribution and e-business companies, has enhanced its European rail ticketing system in the UK to help its customers to profit from increasing demand for corporate rail travel.

The development allows licensed agents to book and issue Eurostar and national rail tickets for UK and European rail travel using their existing ATB2 printers, as supplied by Worldspan. Agents now only require one ticket printer, the ATB2, to issue all air and rail tickets and they automatically receive ticketing and sales reports from ELGAR for invoice reconciliation.

These enhancements to Worldspan`s European rail ticketing system are part of the company`s wider commitment to expanding its technology solutions in the corporate marketplace, where the efficient provision of high service levels is paramount.

Commenting on the development, Steve Blows, Operations Director of Review Travel Management, said: “We welcome this innovation as it allows us to book and issue both air and train tickets at the same time, without the need for a separate system. This saves us time and money and increases our efficiency.”

Graham Nichols
, Worldspan`s Vice President of EMEA & Asia, says: “The travel market is changing dramatically in response to airline moves on commission and the corporate world`s understandable focus on value for money. Worldspan will continue to work closely with ELGAR, and other third parties, to develop and deploy effective, integrated solutions that provide our customers with the services they need to succeed in this dynamic market.

The ELGAR system upgrades will be free and will be automatically rolled out to Worldspan customers.
