Loyalty Programmes Co-Marketing Alliance

The changing landscape of the travel industry has brought together ex-airline rivals Phil Bakes, former president of Continental Airlines and later CEO of Eastern Airlines, and Bob Crandall, former chairman and CEO of American Airlines, to provide a new way for travellers to redeem their frequent flyer miles and points for the travel experiences of their dreams with FAR&WIDE Travel Corporation and MilePoint.com.
The two companies announced the launch of an online co-marketing alliance that enables MilePoint.com members to convert their frequent flyer miles and points into a type of currency - MilePoint Money - that can be used to pay for 5% of the cost of a selection of FAR&WIDE travel programmes offered online.
MilePoint Money allows travelers to book online and embark on any of the travel experiences provided by GETours, a company of FAR&WIDE that specialises in escorted tours throughout the world. GETours takes care of all of the details - accomodations, restaurant reservations, sightseeing and transportation - so travellers can enjoy their excursions, not worry about the planning.
MilePoint.com was launched in November 2000 to provide a new way for frequent flyers to redeem accumulated miles and points beyond travel awards. The company`s proprietary technology allows members to easily register their frequent travel programmes at the MilePoint.com site and use them as partial payment for goods and services from more than 200 online merchants.
