BA meets unions to avert summer strike action

British Airways is bracing itself for a series of summer strike action as cabin crew unions meet with management today over redundancies and a radical cost-cutting programme.

Negotiators from both sides meeting at Heathrow’s Renaissance hotel for the past three weeks with no resolution. BA has set tomorrow as the deadline for a deal to be struck with all unions. However company sources told The Times there was a likelihood the deadline would be missed, even though a deal was possible.

Failure to agree could spark industrial action in the peak summer holiday period.
