London City Airport gets Wanderlust vote

London City Airport has been voted best UK Airport by Wanderlust readers.An independent poll of nearly 3,000 readers awarded London City Airport the prestigious title. London City Airport beat Norwich, Inverness, Newcastle and Bristol International Airport to the number one position. The awards ceremony took place at The Times Destination Travel Show, Earls Court and Charles Buchanan, Strategy Director for London City Airport was present to collect the award on behalf of the Airport.

Charles Buchanan said “We are delighted that we have won yet again. This is the third consecutive year which Wanderlust readers have voted London City Airport the best UK airport. It means so much more when awards are as a result of passenger opinions”.

The future looks bright for London City Airport. 2007 was a record year for the airport with passenger numbers reaching nearly three million. This May will see the beginning of new British Airways services to Barcelona and Warsaw. Construction to build additional aircraft parking bays is well under way and due to be completed in spring. In addition British Airways recently announced a new business class only service to New York, due to commence in 2009.
