Amadeus reports API boost

Amadeus is celebrating an upsurge in demand for its API (application programming interface) in addition to increased deployment of its off-the-shelf solutions such as Amadeus Cruise and Amadeus Selling Platform for air, car, hotel and rail bookings.

Recent signings with JTA, one of the UK’s largest and most successful suppliers of discounted flights to the travel trade, and the Lotus Group, operator of the hugely successful dial-a-flight brand, as well as Barrhead Travel, a major player in Scotland, have helped to cement Amadeus’ reputation as being a travel technology partner offering a range of flexible solutions.  Amadeus reports that a number of new clients are citing the ability to obtain - from one supplier - both “prêt a porter” solutions such as Amadeus Selling Platform for call centre staff and Amadeus API for tailored developments as the needed flexibility required to boost business.

Amadeus API enables 3rd party business applications to seamlessly integrate content from the Amadeus Central System, offering real-time booking and information for an impressive array of providers including 95% of the world’s scheduled airline seats, 75,000 hotel properties, cruise lines, car rental companies and more. By dovetailing with a company’s existing business applications, Amadeus API technology serves to greatly improve the speed and performance of the selling experience for both customers and sales staff.

Wayne Darrock, Managing Director, JTA stated: “The decision to move to Amadeus was a critical one for JTA to help us to continue our growth and expansion through the trade. The need for faster, automated and streamlined booking processes offline and via our electronic distribution channels is an essential requirement. Amadeus came out with flying colours in all these areas.”

Julian Mills, Director of Sales, Amadeus UK & Ireland added: “Because we don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach, Amadeus invests in delivering award-winning applications including the tools that enable travel agencies and 3rd party developers to customise technology to suit their unique and evolving business environments. This flexibility proved a key factor in JTA’s decision to move to Amadeus. We take pride in understanding our customers’ technology needs so that we continue to deliver the right mix of Amadeus off-the-shelf solutions and development tools.”
