Sofitel announces new openings

Tucked away on the island of Gezirah in the heart of the Egyptian capital, the Sofitel El Gezirah is a haven of tranquillity.
The mythical River Nile is dotted with islands, including El Gezirah, where the Sofitel is located, in central Cairo.  This peaceful oasis with beautiful gardens is the destination of choice for travellers seeking serenity.

Pure lines, exquisite furnishings, delicately coloured fabrics and flooring, and urbane lighting all contribute to making El Gezirah a truly exceptional location.  Each of the 50 suites and 383 spacious rooms has a balcony from which guests can take in the splendid view of The Nile and its feluccas, and weary travellers can also relax in the hammam or sauna, or treat themselves to a massage in a booth overlooking The Nile.

El Gezirah’s five restaurants combine the very best of local culture with Sofitel’s art de recevoir, offering a subtle mix of Oriental and Western cuisine.  El Kebabgy entices guests with Middle Eastern specialties and a Nile view from the terrace, whilst Vendome offers fine French dining and Sud Restaurant explores the delights of Mediterranean cuisine.
Entirely revamped in November 2007 by Pierre-Yves Rochon, and now boasting one of the world’s most famous restaurant-lounges, the funky Buddha Bar, the hotel offers guests luxurious high-tech facilities, delightful cuisine, and a superb spa.
Guests can wind up the evening at the hotel’s Casino Barrière, or walk a few minutes down the road to the Opera.

A short distance from the government buildings, the hotel is also a popular choice among business travellers, offering conference or banquet rooms with a variety of styles and rich furniture, state of the art audio-visual equipment and the latest video conferencing resources.  Groups from 20 to 500 people can be accommodated.

Sofitel El Gezirah Cairo has king bed deluxe river view rooms from £87 per room per night with advance booking.
