Travelport, Flight Centre extend partnership

Travelport GDS is extending its Global GDS arrangement with Flight Centre Limited (FCL) through to 2010.

As a result of this agreement, Travelport GDS (which comprises Galileo and the newly acquired Worldspan), will continue to be the GDS provider to FCL’s businesses globally through its Galileo brand. The extension cements the long-term partnership between Galileo and Flight Centre which has been in place since the fledgling Flight Centre business first automated its shops in Australia in the 1980s and during which time both companies have grown together as Flight Centre commenced operations in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Hong Kong, China, the USA and Canada.

Flight Centre Managing Director Graham Turner commented, “This agreement is a reflection of the confidence and value we place on Galileo and the Travelport organisation who have been with us every step of the way as we have grown our business domestically and overseas.  We fundamentally believe that the GDS represents the most effective and efficient way for our business to gain access to travel content both for our growing shop network and our online presence.”

Flight Centre holds a unique position within the Travelport GDS customer portfolio and has been a willing beta tester and early adopter of a wide range of Galileo products and solutions for both the leisure and corporate market, providing valuable feedback during research and development, thus defining a true partnership.

Gordon Wilson, CEO and President of Travelport GDS commented, “In a competitive market place, this ongoing vote of confidence and support from one of the world’s leading travel agencies is a credit to the products, services and people relationships established between Flight Centre and our Galileo team.  This extension of our partnership allows our two organisations to maintain our momentum of innovation and growth. “
