Grand Millenium opens in Thailand

The five-star Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel, which will open its doors this month, will be re-branded to Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok on 1 November 2007.
Located in one of Bangkok’s prime central areas on Asoke Road (Sukhumvit Soi 21), the hotel is within easy access to the business district, financial institutions and some of the city’s best entertainment spots.  With its central location, the hotel is a 30-minute drive away from Thailand’s new Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
The re-branding of Millennium Sukhumvit marks another milestone in Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) plc’s branding commitment to expand the Grand Millennium brand name in the Asia-Pacific region. The Grand Millennium, located in key cities is the most prestigious and luxurious hotel brand. The Millennium brand deals with upscale and deluxe properties, the Copthorne brand caters to the mid-management of corporates while the Kingsgate brand is favoured by budget-conscious travelers.
This latest addition to M&C’s portfolio boasts a fabulous design complete with the latest technology to support the requirements of today’s discerning business and leisure travellers alike.

The presence of Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok in a key destination like Thailand will reinforce the Grand Millennium brand as a provider of elegant and luxury accommodation,” said Mr Kwek Leng Beng, Executive Chairman of the Hong Leong Group Singapore and Chairman of M&C Hotels plc.
“This highly-anticipated five-star hotel will complement the unique offerings of our other five-star Thai property - the Millennium Resort Patong in Phuket which is part of the giant Phuket Jungceylon Project. This resort is slated to open in November 2007,” said Mr Michael Sengol, Chief Operating Officer of M&C Hotels plc.

The Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Bangkok hotel is managed by M&C Hotels and owned by Thailand-based Fena Estate Company Limited, a joint-venture between Srichawla Family (FICO Group) and City Hotels Pte Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of M&C Hotels), with each company owning a 50% interest in the joint-venture.
