LeisureLogix rolls out trip planning tool

LeisureLogixTM is launching the company and the upcoming release of their first product, an online road trip planning tool, the RoadTrip WizardTM. LeisureLogix’ technology combines the best of trip planning with personalization, integrated mapping and route planning. The company is founded on the belief that a trip should be more than just the destination itself; it should be the entire experience, from beginning to end.

The LeisureLogix platform converges complete planning, booking, mapping and routing capabilities and one of the broadest location-based services platforms available, which includes more than five million points of interest in over 87,000 cities and towns in the United States. Through its intelligent advice engine and combined mapping and routing platform, the RoadTrip Wizard generates recommendations from a broad range of user-provided criteria and delivers highly personalized road trip plans for every search, complete with turn-by-turn directions.

“Current solutions have predominantly focused on air and hotel without much attention to online road travel, even though 88% of all leisure travel is on the road,” said Michael Hulley, CEO of LeisureLogix. “Recognizing the underserved market for online road trip planning, LeisureLogix created the RoadTrip Wizard which combines and improves upon existing technologies to personalize, integrate and simplify the entire online road trip planning process from beginning to end.”

Licensed to companies to complement their consumer offerings, the RoadTrip Wizard provides trip recommendations based on individual trip personalities called “Trip Personas.” Each user can create and save multiple “Trip Personas” based on who they are traveling with, what they like to do and see, and how they prefer to travel on a specific trip. LeisureLogix’ new approach to travel planning allows for more personalized recommendations with tailored results. Other travel solutions only provide one-dimensional user profiles.

As part of the Trip Persona, users can select their trip preferences—lodging budget, energy level for activities, indoor vs. outdoor activities, and special considerations like traveling with a pet. Users can then locate points of interest such as hotels and restaurants or activities like water parks and picnic areas along their route. Search results can be limited or expanded with easy to use tools that filter results and recommendations. As more detail is included in the Trip Persona, the more personalized and filtered the results. Trip plans can be easily stored, printed and shared by email with family and friends.

“We’ve created the RoadTrip Wizard as a complete road trip planning and booking tool for partners who want to enhance their Web sites and capture the large population of travelers who are hitting the road each year,” said Jeff DeKorte, President and COO of LeisureLogix.

The RoadTrip Wizard allows users to plan long, short, even daily errand trips and business itineraries with lodging or air and ranging from the economical to high-end. Able to create “Fly-drive” and “Drive-only” road trips, the RoadTrip Wizard identifies places to stay, places to eat, places to shop, places to go, events to attend, things to do and things you need. The RoadTrip Wizard’s location-based services platform is a combination of information, booking, mapping and routing capabilities from WorldChoiceTravel (with over 33,643 bookable properties of all ranges in the U.S.), LeisureLogix’s own proprietary database and research, as well as sources such as WCities (events, attractions, city guides), deCarta (mapping platform) and TeleAtlas (geocoded yellow pages information, edited for travelers). This information is augmented with a rich set of attributes that work in concert with the intelligent advice engine.
