S7 carries 700,000 in August
In August 2007, S7 Airlines carried over 700,000 passengers in a month for the first time. The aircraft carried a total of 712,000 passengers (77,400, or 12%, more than in August 2006) more than 1,700,000,000 passenger kilometres (6% more than in August 2006). During the month, the airline made 5,291 flights (12% more than in August 2006).
‘Our results for August represent another successfully achieved milestone in our development. We carried more than 700,000 passengers in a month for the first time, confirming our status as the major network carrier in the domestic market,’ said Vladislav Filyov, Managing Director of S7 Airlines. ‘Today, we already operate more than half of our flights with modern Boeing and Airbus airliners, which allows us to achieve very high performance indicators.
For instance, the passenger load factor for S7’s aircraft in August exceeded 87%.’ In the first 8 months of 2007, S7 Airlines made 30,400 flights (12% more than in the first 8 months of 2006), carrying 3,600,000 passengers (7% more than in the first 8 months of 2006). In the same period, the airline flew 8,900,000,000 passenger kilometres (3% more than in the first 8 months of 2006). The aircraft carried 19,500 tonnes of fuel in the period (8% more than in the first 8 months of 2006). The main factors contributing to the growth in these performance indicators were: the expansion of S7’s flight network; the increased frequency of flights on many of the airline’s routes; its guaranteed high level of punctuality; and its highly efficient use of its aircraft fleet. This year, S7’s programme for overhauling its aircraft fleet, a process scheduled to be complete in 7 years’ time, has moved on apace. The S7 Group has signed several major contracts with Boeing and Airbus, the world’s leading manufacturers of civil aviation equipment, for the supply of new aircraft, and became the first Russian company to purchase Next-Generation Boeing 787 Dreamliners: - 25 Airbus A320s (delivery to start in 2009); - 10 Boeing 737-800s (delivery to start in 2010); - 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners (delivery to start in 2014) S7 has also signed operating lease agreements with ILFC for 4 new Airbus A320s (to be delivered in early 2008) and Cramington, a leasing company, for 9 Airbus A319s, to be delivered by the end of 2007, the company’s press service reported.
