Star line-up for World Travel Awards in New York

The World Travel Awards (WTA) have now revealed their star-studded line-up for the forthcoming Americas Ceremony, which is set to take place at Jumeirah Essex House in New York on Monday, 17th September.The glamorous event will be hosted by the delectable Lauren Holly, made famous for her cinema role in blockbuster Dumb & Dumber, along with television and radio host, Todd Newton.

They will entertain 250 of the region’s travel industry elite who are gathering to celebrate their achievements and receive World Travel Awards for the America’s regional categories. These winners will then be put forward for their respective global categories, which will be announced at the end of the year in the Turks and Caicos.

The celebrity line-up for the night includes actor Christopher Meloni of Law and Order, Supermodel Tyra Banks, talk show host Kelly Ripa, Frasier’s David Hyde Pierce, Damon Wayans of Beverly Hills Cop and Michael Imperioli of The Sopranos.

Stand-up comedian Wendy Liebman promises to have the audience bent over in laughter with her unique and trademark witty style. There will also be a surprise performance from a special A-list musical guest which promises to enthrall the audience.

“Our WTA Middle East & Africa Gala Ceremony in Abu Dhabi was such a great success that people are still talking about it -  so we have a lot to live up to for our Americas event,” says Event Director Manon Han. “That is why we are again investing in a spectacular line-up with music, comedy and entertainment from world class acts. This will ensure that this is an unforgettable evening, matching if not surpassing past events.”

As the official media partner, BBC World will broadcast the event to over 280 million homes in over 200 countries and territories. Other confirmed media include Condé Nast Traveler, CasaLife Magazine, Contribute Magazine, Elite Traveler, Entertainment News & Views, Executive Travel, Executive Travel Skyguide, Hotel Business, Jax Fax, New York Living, Successful Meetings, Town & Country Magazine, Travel + Leisure, Travel World News, Travel Agent Magazine and Travel Weekly.

For the first time in 14 years, the World Travel Awards cover the various country and regional level awards by recognising award winners in their own territory. Other chosen locations for this year’s grand tour include Newcastle Gateshead in North East England for the European & Green Awards and the Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean for the grand final.

WTA also recently made an announcement to host their first ever Asia, Australasia & Indian Ocean event in Bangalore, India’s fastest growing city.
