Lufthansa lauches Bordeaux service

Lufthansa is launching a new thrice-daily service to Bordeaux from its major hub Frankfurt.The non-stop flights will begin on 28 October 2007 with the introduction of the winter timetable and will be available year-round.

Lufthansa operates an extensive network of routes to France. Bordeaux is one of seven French destinations - after Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice and Toulouse - to be served by the airline. “With 523 connections a week between Germany and France,  Lufthansa offers more flights between these two major European economic nations than any other airline,” says Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales of Lufthansa German Airlines. Passengers from south-western France have an excellent choice of connections from Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub to more than 139 destinations worldwide.

Bordeaux, an important commercial centre and port on the Garonne, boasts a rich cultural history. The city’s Roman and Mediaeval past blends seamlessly with the present. This year the historic old town (le vieux
Bordeaux) was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Many of the renowned wine traders in the city or owners of the famous chateaux in the surrounding area invite visitors to taste their wines. Thanks to the worldwide sales of Bordeaux wine, the city has widespread trade links and is therefore an important destination for business travellers. Countless street cafés and restaurants along the river bank and in many squares in the heart of the city are also an ideal place to sit and watch the world go by. Bordeaux is surrounded by many famous winegrowing areas and by different regions such as the Dordogne, which is also a favourite destination for gourmets. The Atlantic coast with its extensive sandy beaches is also within easy reach of Bordeaux.
