Galileo steps up airline content

Galileo Low Cost Air, the tool which enables Australian travel agents to search and compare low cost carrier fares outside Galileo’s core Global Distribution System (GDS) with fares from airlines participating in the GDS, has expanded its search capability. By adding a number of additional low cost carriers, including AirAsia, Galileo-connected travel agents in the Pacific region can now offer their customers a wider choice of fares to Asia.

Galileo Low Cost Air saves the user time and effort by negating the need to access each low cost carrier’s website to search for air fares to compare with GDS fares.  Displaying all search results on a single screen for easy comparison, the low cost fare tool also offers complete fare transparency by including all pre-payable taxes, surcharges, and credit card fees.

“By expanding the search capability to include low cost carriers such as AirAsia, we are able to offer even richer content to our agents and their customers, “said Galileo’s Director, Airline Services, Asia, Ms Hui-wan Chua.  “Galileo Low Cost Air provides travel agents with a highly time-efficient, easy to use system while also offering today’s low cost carriers with valuable distribution to the travel trade.”

Galileo Low Cost Air was first launched in Australia in March 2006 to eliminate the need for agents to access individual low cost carrier websites when comparing web fares with the GDS.  Since then, it has been enhanced to encompass low cost carriers from Europe, South Africa and now Asia to bring even richer content to the travel agent.
