The Churchill completes refurb

The Churchill has now completed the end of its 18 month multi-million pound refurbishment of bedrooms, suites, corridors and the Regency Club®.

Hunt Hamilton Zuch Ltd, the leading international interior designers specialising in the hotel and leisure industry, have created a fresh new look for the hotel, keeping true to the classic nature of the hotel and with the distinguished Hyatt Regency brand worldwide.

Bedrooms and suites are light and airy with colour palettes of shades of green and blue, punctuated with neutral tones of beige and taupe. For an elegant, contemporary feel and to contrast with the soft furnishings, the furniture features dark chocolate stained woods, and contrasting walnut veneers. Lamps have crisp urban lines, sharp white linen shades and black metal bases.

All rooms have carefully chosen colour accents, accessories and pieces of artwork, plus a Philips 26inch flat-screen LCD TV to add warmth and originality for the traveller away from home.

All bathrooms have been redesigned with smart clean lines and materials to enhance the feeling of well-being. Limestone-style ceramic tiles are laid in a brick fashion.  Vanities have granite surfaces with a contrasting dark coco effect, while sleek white ceramic sanitary ware and polished chrome fittings, create a glossy and glamorous interior.

The hotel’s guest corridors have been included in the refurbishment, with custom-designed carpets, photographic artwork inspired by London’s beautiful parks and prints of the local garden squares surrounding the hotel.

The hotel’s Regency Club® on the 8th and 9th floors is “the hotel within the hotel”, where guests can enjoy uncompromising luxury and personal service has also reopened.  The lounge has loose casual seating and relaxed comfortable sofas. The colour scheme is a smooth transition from the guestroom corridors with autumnal shades of green and brown, accented by a vibrant punch of colour in apple green for a feature wall housing a mirror flat-screen TV. The buffet bar area has granite counters, dark stained veneers and walls of apple green glass.

The Regency Club® Lounge offers guests a calm, discreet alternative to the hotel’s restaurants and bars. Breakfast and light snacks are available during the day and in the evening, the Lounge is a sophisticated but relaxed place to read or enjoy a drink.  The redesign includes a new private room that can be booked by guests for private meetings and entertaining, or used as a convivial space to relax and meet fellow members of the Regency Club.

In addition all guests staying on Regency Club and in the hotel’s suites will have access to an I-Home Ipod Docking/Clock Radio system and will be able to listen to their favourite music on their Ipod or enjoy the UK’s varied radio stations.

To finalise the project the ‘Presidential Suite’ will reopen in September 2007.  Located on the 9th floor, the ‘Presidential Suite’ presents four suites offering flexibility to be let singularly or as a two bedroom suite or as one whole four bedroom suite pavilion.

To stay in line with other areas of the hotel, the suites are decorated in Autumnal shades of chocolate, green and lime.  The Living areas provide comfortable and relaxed accommodation with a residential feel including a wooden floor with inset carpets, large corner sofas with indulgent flat screen televisions, and built in bar areas. Suede lined lobby areas provide a touch of luxury leading into contemporary cloakrooms.

The Master bedrooms are large and luxurious with walk through dressing rooms and bathrooms. Each bathroom has ‘double ’ his and her shower heads’ in contemporary glass boxes with a large double ended bathtub having the added luxury of a inset television covered as mirror.  For guests looking for indulgent and flexible accommodation, the ‘Presidential Suite’ will certainly deliver this.

With the refurbishment programme of the bedrooms and suites now completed Hyatt Regency - The Churchill will re-take its place as one of London’s most stylish and comfortable hotels.
