New appointments for Delta Hotels

Delta Hotels is pleased to announce the following appointments at its hotels across the country. Please include this roundup in your upcoming column.

Bertil Fabre is the new director of rooms at Delta Centre-Ville. Previously, Fabre was director of rooms and guest experience at this 711-room property in downtown Montreal. In his new role, he will be responsible for front office operations and the housekeeping and maintenance departments. His 14-year career, which includes ten years with Delta Hotels, includes positions with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and Hilton Hotels. This Toulon, France, native is also a graduate of Institut de l’h™tellerie et du tourisme du Québec.

Catherine Henry has been appointed to the position of director of sales and catering at Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa. Previously, she held the same position at Canmore’s Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre. With 12 years’ industry experience, Henry has worked at Westmont Hospitality Group in Ontario as a regional director of sales and marketing, overseeing six hotels and four brands-Hilton, Radisson, Choice and Travelodge-and for three years at Casino Windsor, as its director of sales and marketing. From Parry Sound, Ontario, she holds a communications arts degree from Ontario’s St. Clair College.

Kevin Kopczynski has joined the team at the 252-room Delta Calgary South as the hotel’s director of sales. Most recently an operations manager with Discount Car and Truck Rentals in Calgary, Kopczynski has built a strong and diverse career over 17 years: he opened the Alberta division office of Enterprise Rent-A-Car and was also a district sales manager for Coca-Cola Ltd., based out of its Calgary office. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, he holds a bachelor of sciences degree from Central Michigan University.

Ian Thorley is the new director of sales and marketing at the 220-room, four-season Delta Sun Peaks Resort in Sun Peaks, British Columbia. Previously, Thorley was director of group sales for “sister” hotels, the Pantages Suites Hotel and Spa and the Cosmopolitan Toronto Hotel, in downtown Toronto. With over 15 years’ experience, Thorley has worked in Ontario for Intercontinental Hotels, Hilton Hotels and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, as well for Travelodge Hotels, at the Alberta office of its national sales division. With MPI and CSAE designations, Thorley graduated from Toronto’s Ryerson Polytechnic University with a bachelor of arts degree in hotel management.
