Trustive expands hotspot network

Telefónica International Wholesale Services has signed an international roaming agreement with Trustive.  The agreement expands the global WiFi footprint for the Telefonica Group, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.  As a result, Telefónica customers will gain access to the Trustive network of hotspots which covers most major European airports and many other prime locations worldwide.

The agreement enables Telefónica to provide its customers with a fully Telefonica-branded user experience that will also simplify navigation when roaming - a key customer requirement. Users will now be able to access the network wherever they are in the world through Trustive’s integration of a fully branded Telefónica landing page.  Telefónica de Espana, a member of the Wireless Broadband Association, is the first Telefonica Operator to adhere to the agreement, which will extend to the Telefónica Operators in Latin America soon thereafter.

The agreement also allows Trustive wholesale customers to access Telefónica’s 2,100 hotspots in Spain.  The Trustive network includes over 30,000 hotspots worldwide, of which 23,000 hotspots are already available, with the remainder becoming accessible within 60 days.

Gavin Dresselhuis, co-founder and managing director of Trustive, said: “Telefónica is the largest hotspot access provider both in Spain and Latin America, and this agreement is a further endorsement of our strong wholesale position in the market.

Virginia Cortés, Agreements Strategy and Development at Telefónica International Wholesale Services, said: “Telefónica is committed to extending its global Wi-Fi footprint, both through direct agreements with the most important operators in the world as well as through global agreements like this one with Trustive”
