Ban on Indonesia carriers hits tourism

The European Commission’s plan to ban all 51 Indonesian airlines from flying to Europe will deal a major blow to the tourism sector as the region is the traditional market for the Indonesian tourism, an executive said. “The European Commission’s step to ban Indonesian airlines from flying to the region is too excessive because it will have an extraordinary impact on tourist arrivals,” chief of the South Sulawesi chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) H Andi Ilhamsyah Mattalatta said here Friday.
