Ritz, Grand Cayman makes Zagat list

Only eighteen months after opening, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman has secured a spot on Zagat Survey’s list of the 10 best large resorts in the world. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is ranked 8th on the survey for resorts with 100+ rooms and is the only Caribbean resort or hotel to rank in any of the survey’s nine categories.

Jean Cohen, vice president and general manager, is particularly proud of this coveted ranking. Previously, Ms. Cohen was Regional Vice President at Ritz-Carlton, managing 14 hotels in the Northeast and Midwest region where she was responsible for overseeing the openings of six Ritz-Carlton hotels, which include Central Park, Battery Park, Boston Common, Boston, Washington, and Georgetown in the District of Columbia.

“I chose to open The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman because I saw that this property had the potential to be the best resort in the Caribbean and one of the 10 best in the world,” said Ms. Cohen. “To have this goal validated by the savvy travelers who make up the universe of Zagat surveyors is truly an honor for the ladies and gentlemen who have worked so hard to create something truly special here, our ‘Seven Wonders on Seven Mile Beach.’”

The Zagat Survey 2007/2008 World’s Top Hotels, Resorts and Spas guide is based on the experiences of 21,783 frequent travelers and 1,626 professional travel agents who averaged 36.9 hotel nights per year. It includes rates and reviews of 1,287 of the best places to stay in the world.
