Abu Dhabi seeks an edge with training initiative
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority is set to begin a new training programme for hotel managers and directors in Abu DhabiDubbed as “Sharpening the competitive edge”, the program will draw together General Managers (GMs) and Executive Managers (EMs) from Abu hotels.
The course will focus on harnessing managerial and practical skills of the participants in addition to offering practical tips on the art of dealing with others during conferences, seminars and meetings. The first round of the course will see some 15 general and executive managers enrolling in the course, which is certified by the Washington School of Protocol. The second round of the course will be held on the 16th of this month.
The course will be delivered by Patricia O’Sullivan from Protraining company, will cover such diverse topics as hospitality protocols, meetings, greetings and introductions , and interacting with others.
According to Nasser Al Reyami, Licensing and Classification Division Director at ADTA, the tourism body is embarking on a number of training programs as part of a long term policy to boost the skills of senior industry executives.
“In view of the current boom in the Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry, it is important to invest in human resources so as to sustain this boom”, he said.
He added that the courses would be expanded to include various categories such as tourist guides, front desk staff, customer relations officers, travel agents and others.
