Despite adverse weather in January, Czech Airlines carried more than 330,000 passengers, up two percent compared to the same period last year.CSA also operated a total of 2,893 flights in January 2007.

Overall, Czech Airlines carried over 300,000 passengers on regular routes this January, which is a 3.6% increase over last January.  Regular routes accounted for more than 90 per cent of the overall carriage results.  In addition, in January, CSA carried nearly 30,000 passengers on charter flights, primarily to exotic destinations.  CSA also carried 1,590 tonnes of goods and mail in January.

The number of checked-in passengers increased, in spite of the unfortunate events that caused Prague Airport to close several times in January.  In mid-January, flight operations were limited due to a warning about a bomb being placed at Prague Airport.  Later, operations all over Europe were deeply interrupted by Hurricane Kyrill.  The most significant impact on CSA’s operations in January was the 30-hour closure of Prague Airport, due to the snow calamity at the end of the month.

In 2006, Czech Airlines carried a record 5.5 million passengers.  Year-on-year, their number grew by 4.7 per cent.  In 2005, CSA carried 5.2 million passengers, and 4.3 the year before.
