AA.com adds Spanish content

American Airlines is launching new country-specific Spanish-language portals on AA.com/español to better serve customers in Latin America and the U.S.  The new portals of AA.com offer a new Spanish-language booking tool and country-specific offers and news.

“The new Spanish-language Web sites provide our Spanish-speaking customers an easy and convenient way to book travel,” said Peter Dolara, American’s Senior Vice President for Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America. “By offering country-specific portals, we will be able to share with our customers more relevant offers and content along with great fares.”

Customers who go to www.aa.com/español will be asked to select their country of residence and will be redirected to their country specific portal
According to a survey conducted by Encuesta in 2006 that tracked airline travel for U.S. Hispanics, American Airlines, a founding member of the global oneworld® Alliance, is the top airline of choice by Latinos in the U.S.  The survey also showed a tremendous growth in online bookings by Hispanics domestically, with a seven-fold jump since 2002.
The español portals provide numerous ways to conveniently search for and book low fares, select seats, check AAdvantage miles balance, and get relevant news and offers. Customers who purchase tickets on AA.com/español do not pay an online booking fee and earn AAdvantage bonus miles for each ticket purchased when booking flights. In addition, customers residing in Latin America can easily sign up for Direct Contact, an AA.com/español e-mail newsletter.
“We are placing great emphasis on enabling our customers to experience AA.com in a language that they prefer and making our online experience more user-friendly for our global audiences,” said Rob Friedman, American’s Managing Director of AA.com. “With the introduction of Spanish-language booking capabilities, we are better serving the needs of the important U.S. Hispanic population and our customers throughout the Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America and making it easier than ever to travel on American.”
AA.com is the single largest distribution outlet for American and American Eagle, averaging more than 1.2 million unique visitors per day.  American Airlines is Latin America’s premier airline, offering more flights to more destinations there than any other carrier.
