Eos offering secrets for sleeping

Eos is introducing an onboard amenity to ease its
guests’ transition to restful sleep.Eos has partnered with Rhino
Entertainment - a Warner Music Group Company, and Smash Arts, LLC, to
introduce “Bedtime Beats - The Secret to Sleep,” as an in-flight
amenity.

Since the launch of its premium class-only service between New York and
London just over one year ago, Eos Airlines has quickly earned a
reputation as an innovator that provides an in-flight environment
conducive to sleep.  The 757 aircraft in the Eos fleet have been
specially configured with 48 suites that offer privacy, 21 square-feet
of personal space and fully horizontal 6’6” beds.  The suites also
feature aisle access for every guest - eliminating the need to wake up a
neighbouring passenger mid-flight, as well as amenities including full
size pillows, sleep suits on eastbound flights, down comforters/duvets,
Bose noise cancelling headsets, and even turn down service with
chocolates.  Eos also offers guests scheduled for evening flights to
London the option of enjoying a gourmet meal in advance at JFK’s
extraordinary new Emirates Lounge, to maximize time for sleep onboard.

Based on findings of a scientific study identifying music that cycles at
60 to 80 beats per minute (similar to the human heart rate) as the
optimum for relaxation,  - Bedtime Beats was specially created by Rhino
Entertainment and Smash Arts with a roster of classical music that
matches this range.

A selection of the Bedtime Beats compilation will be available to guests
aboard every Eos flight seven days per week between New York and London
via Eos’ in-flight entertainment system.  Additionally, in a special
Holiday program, guests on every 9:00 p.m. Eos flight departing from New
York for London during December (seven days per week) will receive a
complimentary double CD set of Bedtime Beats, so that they can continue
sleeping at home as well as they sleep aboard Eos.

A study at Case Western Reserve University’s Francis Payne Boulton
School of Nursing: “Music Improves Sleep Quality in Older Adults,”
reported in the Journal of Advanced Nursing in 2005, provided the basis
for the Bedtime Beats concept.  The study found that soothing
music-specifically music with a tempo of 60-80 beats per minute
(BPM)-resulted in significantly better sleep quality, better perceived
sleep quality, longer sleep duration, greater sleep efficiency, and
more.

The Bedtime Beats CD comprises over 120 minutes of classical music that
meets this criterion and includes works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Debussy,
Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Puccini, and others. To make the CDs
as soothing as possible, the music was meticulously mastered to reduce
variations in tempo and volume.  The Bedtime Beats program is among the
special initiatives designed to thank guests during the airline’s
celebration of its First Anniversary. Eos Airlines began offering
innovative premium-class only service tailored to trans-Atlantic
business travellers on October 18th, 2005. Today, the airline offers
twice daily flights between New York’s JFK Airport and London’s Stansted
Airport.
