Press: Bush pushes overseas control of US airlines

The White House plans to press ahead with a proposal to allow greater foreign control of US airlines. It is betting it can push the change through before Congress has the chance to stop it, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition.

The foreign-control proposal has come under fire in Congress. Labor unions also oppose it, fearing that foreign managers will send the best jobs overseas.

Last month, the House of Representatives voted 291-137 to block the proposed rule, attaching a ban on it to the transportation-spending bill that is making its way through Congress
