Starting from 2007, Moldova will cancel visas for citizens of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Norway and Israel. A bill on that was approved by the Moldovan parliament on Thursday according to the ITAR TASS news agency.

According to the minister for foreign affairs and European integration, Andrei Stratan, the cancellation of visa requirements will contribute to a favourable decision of the European Union on the simplification of visa procedures for Moldovan citizens.

In June 2006, Moldova will hold negotiations with Brussels on the simplification of visa procedures for Moldovan citizens visiting EU countries.
