Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza reopens

Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza and Convention Center, which was hit by Hurricane Rita, has re-opened after undergoing $10 million in renovations.  Along with its meeting space and convention center, 156 of the Holiday Inn’s 253 inviting guest rooms are open for business.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Greenery, which serves American and Cajun cuisine, and the atrium bar, Park Place, are also fully operational for guests and locals to enjoy.  Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC is the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites.

The hotel immediately began to rebuild and renovate after Hurricane Rita destroyed 80 percent of the hotel’s sheetrock, the carpet, pool area, ceilings, windows and the air-conditioning units, in September 2005.

“It’s been a challenging seven months, but the community pulled together to ensure Beaumont’s an even more extraordinary place,” said Roy McClaney, general manager of the Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza.  “We’re proud to be a part of such a strong community and to be able to provide high-quality service and hospitality to its residents and visitors.”

The entirely renovated facility features contemporary furniture and a warm, golden color scheme.  A grand re-opening is planned for early summer when all guestroom renovations are complete.
