Jumeirah appoints VP for Americas

Jumeirah has announced the appointment of Tom Civitano as Vice President Sales & Marketing, Americas.

The appointment follows Jumeirah’s recent management take over of the Essex House Hotel on January 15, 2006.

Mr. Civitano brings with him over 20 years of hospitality experience, having most recently served for 17 years as Executive Vice President of Marketing for The Plaza Hotel in New York City. 

Civitano repositioned The Plaza as one of the greatest hotels in the world through extraordinary marketing accomplishments and achieved world-wide recognition for the hotel as one of the most award winning hotels in the industry. 

During his tenure at The Plaza, Mr. Civitano also ensured that the hotel was featured in more films and television shows than any other hotel in the United States.

Civitano has honed his expertise in the hotel industry, holding previous senior positions at The Waldorf Astoria, The New York Hilton and The Tarrytown Hilton.

Tom has served on the Advisory Board for American Express Platinum Card Fine Hotels and Resorts, received an Eagle Award from Fairmont Hotels and Resort for Marketer of the Year in 2002 and the 2004 TravelCLICK E-Marketer Lifetime Achievement Award for recognition of career excellence in leading edge marketing practices. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Wesleyan.
