Virgin signs again with Volvo

Virgin Atlantic has signed a new three-year contract with Volvo to provide chauffeur driven car transfers to and from the airport in the UK for their Upper Class passengers. Following six years working together, the contract is a continuation of the relationship between the airline and Volvo to offer this service.

The Virgin Atlantic fleet will primarily be made up of Volvo’s V70 and S80 models and will include optional Bi-Fuel and XC90 vehicles. Following Volvo’s example as a CarbonNeutral company, Virgin Atlantic and Tristar Worldwide Chauffeur Services are actively exploring alternative environmental options, such as CarbonNeutral, to offset the emissions of the fleet in the near future.

Sir Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin Atlantic commented, “We are delighted to continue to work with Volvo, who have exceeded our expectations over the years when it comes to offering a high quality of comfort and style for our Upper Class passengers. Volvo and Virgin Atlantic share many core values with both organisations having passenger safety and innovation as a cornerstone. The limo and Drive Thru Check In service has proved and remains to be very popular with our Upper Class passengers.

“We also believe that our passengers will appreciate being picked up by the latest Swedish models!”

Complimentary airport transfers are available to and from most airports of arrival and departure; UK options include chauffeur driven car; Virgin LimoBike and Heathrow or Gatwick Express travel in the UK.

Upper Class passengers who choose to be picked up by the limo service can also take advantage of Drive Thru Check In at both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Drive Thru is an Upper Class complimentary service where the cars are met by check-in agents in a dedicated area at the airports. The agents security profile the passengers, take any luggage, which is to be checked in directly to the aircraft and issue boarding passes. All this is done without passengers needing to leave the comfort of their cars. Upper Class passengers are then dropped off at departure level and can go directly through Fast Track security and immigration to the Virgin Clubhouse lounge. This hassle-free approach reduces check-in time.
