InterContinental Hotels will break ground on the new Holiday Inn Express in Quito, Ecuador. This property will mark the 18th country in which InterContinental has a presence in Latin America, and it is the 13th Holiday Inn Express in the region, bringing the total of number of Holiday Inn hotels to 30, and the total number of hotels to 58, including the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites brands.

The ground breaking of the Holiday Inn Express Quito in Ecuador demonstrates IHG’s commitment to expanding the Holiday Inn brand throughout key cities in Central and South America.

The groundbreaking of the Holiday Inn Express Quito complements recent Holiday Inn Express openings in Puerto Montt, Chile and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The property is being developed by Hidalgo e Hidalgo S.A. The hotel will be located on the corner of Orellana Avenue and Reina Victoria Avenue, which is one of the trendiest and fastest growing neighborhoods of Quito.

Upon completion, the hotel will be 12-stories high with a total of 139 rooms.

The construction of the new property will have a contemporary look and feel and will be integrated into a historic Ecuadorian-classic 1950’s house.

Amenities will include an underground parking garage, a business center, meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness center.

“We are very proud to be breaking ground on this property and to be part of such an iconic city,” says Alvaro Diago, Area President, InterContinental Hotels Group Latin America.

“This hotel is crucial for us in that it expands our reach into the region, furthering our position as the South America’s key international hotel company.”

Surrounded by volcanoes and forested mountains, Quito is a city rich in culture and history. With a population of about 1,400,000, Quito is still known today as the Cultural Capital of the Americas.

Quito is still recognized for its mix of architectural beauty while maintaining its historic roots.

Just a few blocks from the new IHG property are two landmark tourist attractions. The first is the popular Parque El Ejido.

On Saturday and Sunday the park hosts a handicrafts market. Vendors from all over Ecuador travel to sell their goods at the market. Another must-see is the Museo Nacional del Banco Central, which features a wide-array of exhibits from ancient artifacts to contemporary paintings.

The Holiday Inn Express brand is a perfect choice for travelers seeking affordable lodging and comfortable accommodations. The brand has over 1,150 hotels worldwide.
