US Airways tees up for Masters

US Airways will expand its service to Augusta, Ga., to provide customers more nonstop routes and flight options for the Masters Golf Tournament.The expanded service will begin April 2 and continue through April 10, 2006.

US Airways will increase and upgrade its current schedule of six daily Charlotte, N.C.-to-Augusta flights to nine daily flights. The increased service will be operated by 50-seat Dash-8s and by 70-seat and 86-seat regional jets.

In addition, US Airways will implement special nonstop service between Augusta and New York LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington Reagan National on select peak travel days.

“The Masters Tournament brings with it high passenger demand, as fans clamor to get to Augusta’s world-renowned event,” said Schedule Planning and Alliances Senior Vice President Andrew Nocella. “Once again, we are thrilled to provide passengers with more options for getting to Augusta by expanding our destinations and increasing frequencies throughout early April.”

The additional Charlotte-Augusta flights will operate April 2-10. Special nonstop service to Philadelphia and New York will operate April 3-10. Pittsburgh and Washington National flights to and from Augusta will operate Monday, April 10, 2006.
