Interconti expands midscale portfolio

InterContinental Hotels Group is opening a new 83-room Candlewood Suites hotel in southwest Missouri. The new property is Joplin’s first Candlewood Suites hotel.
Complimentary amenities include high-speed internet access, free local phone calls, free on-site guest laundry and a 24-hour fitness center. Candlewood Suites Joplin can visit the free Lending Library, where movies and music are available for use in guestrooms, which all feature a VCR/DVD and CD player.

“Candlewood Suites hotels are carefully designed to meet the particular needs of longer-staying guests,” said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Candlewood Suites. “When business or personal matters require travel for a week or more, guests find that the design of our guest suites and the amenities we provide allow them to live comfortably and keep a daily routine similar to that of home.”

Standard Candlewood Suites guestrooms feature studio or one-bedroom suite floor plans with a full kitchen, large workspace with comfortable desk chair and overhead lighting, overstuffed recliner, VCR/DVD and CD player and two-line telephones with voice mail. The Candlewood Suites Joplin also offers a business center, 24-hour front desk, complimentary parking, and same day laundry and valet. A boardroom is available for small meetings as well.

“With Joplin’s booming economy, the new Candlewood Suites is going to be extremely beneficial to the community,” said Joe Brenner, general manager, Candlewood Suites Joplin. “Joplin now has an additional 83 guestrooms and with the development of the hotel fifteen new employment opportunities were created.”

The hotel is situated just off I-44 and Business 71. Key businesses such as TAMKO, Eagle Picher, Pillsbury, General Mills and FAG Bearings are close to the hotel as well as several restaurants and shops.
