Abu Dhabi opens UK tourist office
The official headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) in the UK, has officially been opened by Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the ADTA.In his speech, Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan
Chairman, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, highlighted the importance that Abu Dhabi attach to the UK market. He reflected on Abu Dhabi’s commitment to tourism, revealing their ambitious growth plans to triple hotel rooms in the next decade.
He commented: “Our Authority is dedicated to building awareness about Abu Dhabi’s attractions in the UK market. At the same time, we are pushing ahead plans to boost capacity from 8,000 to 25,000 hotel rooms by 2015 and to creating a top quality tourism product with services and facilities to match the best in the world.”
The UK office will be run by Ian Harrower, newly appointed country manager of ADTA in the UK. Ian has 25 years of National Tourist Office management experience throughout Europe with Visit Britain and most recently as Managing Director, Canadian Tourism Commission for UK and Ireland.
Commenting on the new office, Ian said, “We are delighted to open a UK tourist office for the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. This is particularly significant as we recognise western Europe, especially UK as an important market for future developments and investments within Abu Dhabi.
